Ng Boo Bee Fountain was donated by Ng Boo Bee, a top member of your Taiping Hokkien mining neighborhood. Ng was a prominent tin miner, philanthropist and member of your Taiping Sanitary Board. A case of rags to riches, Ng arrived in Malaya penniless, but worked his way up, trading in every thing like timber, railway and homes, to come to be on the list of richest man in Taiping. Along the way, he designed jobs for his fellow immigrants. When he died, his funeral procession was 4 hours extended.
Ng Boo Bee's fountain was produced of cast iron in the Penang Foundry. It was initially installed in the Taiping Market place, but was later moved for the lawn outdoors the Lake Gardens.
